Days of Norway at Restaurant Fjalakötturinn

There are Norwegian days at Restaurant Fjalakotturinn on the 13. - 17. May. It will be a long weekend with Norwegian food, culture and music.

A Norwegian top chef, Lars Lervik, from the Nord Trondelag in Norway is coming to Iceland to cook Norwegian food for us.
Norwegian Days at Restaurant FjalakotturinnLars is a very talented chef and he has specialized in doing exciting and creative things with strawberries, specially strawberry deserts. He is the son of the largest strawberry farmer in Mid Norway and grew up with the strawberries and therefore he knows this fruit very well, its smell, taste, feel and looks in all stages. Lars is also extremely creative with icecream making … a true artist he is. We are so excited to have him here.

During these days we will be offering some fine a la carte 6 course dinner at the restaurant were the focus will be on Norwegian cousine.

The 17th of May is the National day of Norway and then we will have som special dinner and celebration at the restaurant. All the other days we will have an ongoing Norwegian theme with food and culture. This will be so Norwegian; at the Fjalakötturinn restaurant we will offer both traditional and modern Norwegian food, the restaurant will be redecorated with Norwegian things,  Norwegian culture will be all over with music and possible there will be dancing as well. We have not entirely decided the schedule for each day but we have lots of ideas we are working on.

The Norwegian embassy in Iceland has requested that the musician Valgeir Guðjónsson will entertain the guest every night from 22:00 – 23:00 at Uppsalir- cafe and bar.

The Days of Norway is in cooperation with with Norwegian embassy in Iceland and the Norwegian association in Iceland

It is always fun to introduce our guests to new culinary and superb dining experiences. You are more than welcome to try both traditional and modern Norwegian fare. We look forward to entertaining you at these special events.

Trout tartar with smoked trout and soy- and ginger reduction
Embedded reindeer with onion- and dry fruit compote, celery root cream, millefeulle potato and rosemary sauce
Chocolate tart duo with strawberry- and spruce shoots parfait, mango and cloudberry coulis

Lamb and cabbage (Norway’s national dish) Mountain cranberry/Lingonberry sorbet
Mustard baked halibut with sweet potato puree, truffle risotto and citrus beurre blanch
Embedded reindeer with onion- and dry fruit compote, celery root cream, millefeulle potato and
rosemary sauce
Chocolate tart duo with strawberry- and spruce shoots parfait, mango and cloudberry coulis
